Developer Documentation

Build with Scofit APIs. Everything you need to integrate, test, and deploy financial infrastructure into your product.

Quick Start

Getting Started

Four steps from sign-up to your first successful API call.

✓

Create Your Account — Sign up at the Scofit developer portal. You receive instant access to the sandbox environment with a full API catalogue.

✓

Get Your API Key — Generate an API key from the dashboard. Keys are scoped to your organisation and can be rotated at any time without affecting active integrations.

✓

Explore the Sandbox — Hit the sandbox base URL with your API key. Every endpoint returns realistic simulated data. Test success paths, error handling, and edge cases before writing production code.

✓

Go Live — Switch your base URL and API key to production credentials. No code changes required. The request/response structure is identical across environments.

Integration

Authentication & Request Model

Every Scofit API uses the same request model. Learn it once, use it everywhere.

API Keys Include your API key in the Authorization header. Keys authenticate at the organisation level and control access to specific product families.
REST Endpoints Standard REST conventions. POST to create or verify, GET to retrieve. All endpoints return JSON with consistent status codes and error structures.
Idempotency Pass an Idempotency-Key header on mutating requests. Retries with the same key return the original response without creating duplicate records.
Webhooks Subscribe to async events. Verification completions, credit report availability, and payment mandate confirmations are pushed to your endpoint.
SDKs Official client libraries handle authentication, retries, error mapping, and type safety. Available for Python, Node.js, and Java.
Rate Limits Rate limits are per API key and documented per endpoint. Standard headers indicate remaining quota and reset timestamps.
Example

Make Your First API Call

A cURL example for PAN Verification. Replace the API key with your sandbox credentials.

POST /v1/pan/verify
curl -X POST https://api.scofit.app/v1/pan/verify \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Idempotency-Key: pan-req-001" \
  -d '{
    "pan": "ABCDE1234F",
    "name": "Rajesh Kumar",
    "dob": "1990-05-15"
  }'

Response 200 OK
{
  "status": "verified",
  "data": {
    "pan": "ABCDE1234F",
    "name": "RAJESH KUMAR",
    "dob": "1990-05-15",
    "category": "Individual",
    "status": "active"
  },
  "request_id": "req_pan_abc123"
}
Environments

Sandbox vs Production

Two environments. One integration. Move between them with a single config change.

Sandbox

✓

Base URL: sandbox.api.scofit.app

✓

Simulated responses for every endpoint. No real data processing.

✓

No charges. Unlimited requests during development and QA.

✓

Test error scenarios with specific input values that trigger failure codes.

Production

✓

Base URL: api.scofit.app

✓

Live API calls with real data sources. Bureau queries, KYC verification, and payment processing.

✓

Usage-based billing. View consumption and costs from the dashboard.

✓

Production API keys are separate from sandbox keys. No cross-environment leakage.
